After a stint of study in Paris, Janel moved to Los Angeles where she obtained a BA in Art History at University of Southern California, also working as an intern at W as well as a salesperson at an upscale women's retail establishment. Living amidst the wardrobes of Tinseltown's celebrity scene, Janel found herself scouring the city's hidden fashion hubs. Never one to ignore a good deal, she soon found her West Hollywood closet burgeoning with posh once-used finds garnered at below-market prices. It wasn't long before her bungalow became the headquarters for dressing and styling her chic circle of Hollywood friends.

Janel moved to Manhattan in the summer of 2008 with heaps of impressive clothes and hopes of increasing the collection. Quickly discovering that the city boasting one of the world's most renowned fashion markets lacked the reasonably priced quality vintage to which she had become accustomed and recognizing that NY's absence was more the rule than the exception, Janel decided to open her closet.
